Demet Altunbulakli is a Student-at-Law at Juriscorp Law Offices. She obtained her LL.B. from the Galatasaray University in Istanbul – The most prestigious Law School in Turkey. Her studies were in French and Turkish, except for the period when she was an exchange student at the University of Florence. There, she studied law in English and in Italian – a language she taught herself to speak the summer she was 19, by social interactions and by listening to Italian music. She received her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation in 2020 by attending the University of Alberta Faculty of Law’s Internationally Trained Lawyer Pathway program. She is scheduled to be called to the bar in 2021.
Demet is fluent in English, French, Italian and Turkish. She had learned the languages throughout her studies and by volunteering as Liaison Officer at various global organizations. She continues to volunteer in Edmonton. She is currently a volunteer translator at Edmonton Immigrant Services Association and Director of Events for Global Lawyers of Canada.
Throughout her legal career, Demet had been exposed to many areas of Law including property and real estate law, wills and estates, maritime, tax, commercial, labour, family and criminal law, as well as mergers and acquisitions. She had advised diverse groups of companies spanning across North America, Europe and Asia. Her international skills and global experience offer a global perspective of respective industries.
In her spare time, Demet enjoys piano and classical music, pilates, skiing, traveling, and learning foreign languages. She is happily married and enjoys spending time with her family.
